He was born September 9, 1896, in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. April 7, 1929, he married Winnie McClennahan at Elk City. They farmed in the Midway and Crawford Communities until moving to Clinton in 1955 then to Enid before moving to Ft. Supply in 1959 where he was employed with the Western State Hospital. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I. His parents, Jeff and Texie Duke, 1 sister, 1 infant grandson, Ricky Eugene Ator and 1 great grandchild, Jennifer Ellen Davis, preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Winnie of the home; 4 daughters, Ruby Sattler, Ojai, California; Lois Ator, Amarillo, Texas; Vinita Fair, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Nadine Steele, Lehigh Acres, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, Shandi Dawn Davis; 1 brother, J.W. Duke, Cheyenne; 1 sister, Mrs. Jewell McCain, Amarillo, Texas. Those serving as pallbearers were: Gerald Keahey, Vernon Keahey, Lee Townsley, Rex Dickason, Jack Lucas and Otto Ator.
