Russell Duke, John Russell and a gounds man by the name of Wade had driven from Sayre to a point near Rankin for a hunt when young Duke, while standing on the running board of the car dropped his gun, and in some way discharged it. The full contents took effect in the back of the head producing death instantly. Russell Duke was a young man about twenty-one years of age and was employed in the One Horse grocery belonging to Henry Russell of Sayre. An inquest was held by Justice Leach and County Attorney Peterson, Wednesday afternoon. The coroner's jury returned a verdict to the effect that Russell Duke came to his death by the accidental discharge of a shot gun. The fatal accident occured Wednesday afternoon about two o'clock.
