All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Funeral services for John Wesley Dykes will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. John Wesley was born April 19, 1906 in Hammons to Newt and Almeda Thomas Dykes and died Friday June 11, 1999 at the age of 93. He was raised in the Hammons and Herring communities. He married Gladys Thomas on October 9, 1929. They made their home in the Hammons area until 1955 when they moved to Elk City where he has lived since. He spent most of his life in the construction business. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, tow brothers, four sisters and one grandson. Survivors include two children, Susie Reid and her husband Darrell and Kendred Dykes and his wife, Karen all of Elk City; one sister, Odessa Benn of Elk City; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Thomas was maiden name of John Wesley's mother.
