Newspaper JASPER NEWTON DYKES Services for Newt D. DYKES were conducted by Rev. M. F. MILBURN Friday afternoon, November 25, at 3:30 o'clock. Burial was in Red Hill cemetery. Newt D. DYKES was born in Wolf County, Kentucky, August 10, 1880; departed this life at his home in Hammon, Okla., November 21, 1951, at the age of 71 years 4 months and 21 days. He came to Oklahoma in 1898, and was united in marriage to Miss Almeda THOMAS May 15, 1900. To this union were born eight children. One child preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Almeda DYKES; four daughters, Mrs. Louis WALKER, Leedey, Okla.; Mrs. Delbert DIXON, Carson, Calif.; Mrs. Laura BRADFORD, Hammon, Okla.; Mrs. Roy BENN, Sulphur, Okla.; three sons, Westey and Clay, Hammon; J. G., Stockton, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, one (great)grand child, and many relatives and friends. ============= CARD OF THANKS We want to thank all our friends and neighbors for all their kindness and help during the illness and death of our loving husband and father; also for the beautiful floral offerings. DYKES and children Note from record: Son of Abner James and Matilda (McCARTY) NEWTON Jasper did not like his name so he went by Newt but thought he needed something with it so started adding "D". Also wasn't sure what year he was born. In looking at census records we found him to be born in 1878.
