Mrs. J.E.L. Douglas, who passes from life Thursday night after an illness of only a few days. Funeral servicfes were conducted in the Baptist church of thids city on Sunay afternoon in the presence of a very large crowd of friends and relatives from Cheyenne and distant places. Pall bearers were: Judge W.P. Keen, Arthur Smith, Elbert Keen, Uburn Prestridgre, Dr. Pyatt and Dean V. Cross. Rev. Bradley, pastor of the church and close friend of the family, preached the sermon. Mrs. Douglas was a devout Christian and a loyal member of the Baptist Church for the past 28 years. Mrs. Douglas was one of those rare characters who always found an opportunity to minister to her friends. She ministered to them in health as well as in sickness; she always admonished her frineds to live a Christian life. She was a great lover and friend to children, and no person in this city had a greater number of friends. Those from a distance attending the funeral were three brothers, L.W. and Ed Keen of Elk City, and T.P. Keen of Weatherford, nepheds, Judge Keen and familly of Clinton, Arthur Smith and family of Elk City, William I. Brown and family, her son, U.E. Nappier of Rochelle, La., her step-son L.R. Douglass aqnd wife of Abilene, Texas, grandson Douglass G. Brann of Sweetwater, Oklahoma and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Brass of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. J.E.L. Douglas died at her home in Cheyenne Thursday evening, February 21, 1936 at the age of 82 years. She was married to J.E.L. Douglass in Mt. Grove, Missouri, October 19, 1897. They moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1898 and to Cheyenne in 1908. She leaves her husband, J.E.L. Douglass, a son U.E. Nappier and four stepchildren, L.R. Douglass of Abilene, Texas, Myrtle D.. Brann, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Ethel Bergman and Birtie Douglass of Hot Springs, New Mexico; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren and six brothers, L.W. and Ed Keen of Elk City, T.P., George, Pat and William Keen all of Weatherford, Oklahoma. The aged companion and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of all Cheyenne.
