All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Dugger, Binyon, Shelton, Lewis, Armstrong Patricia Ruth "Pat" Dugger age 54 of Elk City, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on February 13, 1994. She was born on Mary 5, 1939, to "G.W" and Evelyn Shelton Binyon in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Blanchard High School in 1957. She received her bachelors degree in 1965 and her masters degree in 1972 from the University of Central Oklahoma. She married Richard L. Dugger on December 30, 1961 in Blanchard, Okalhoma. She began her teaching career in 1965 in Elk City and remained there until 1972. In 1972 she was the Director of a Federal Programs and Special Education in the Hammon School System. In 1979 she became the Coordinator for Career Prep at the Western Oklahoma Vo-Tech Center located in Burns Flat. From 1982 to present she taught at the Grandview 5th and 6th Grade Center where she was chosen twice as Grandview Teacher of the Year. In 1969 she had the honor of being selected as one of the first teachers to attend the Aerospace workshop. She took great pride in her students and had a special bond for those students who participated in the Spelling Bee each year. She taught for 26 years in Elk City. She was past president of the S.W. Reading Council, and active member of the Oklahoma Reading Council, International Reading Association, Oklahoam Association for L.D. Children, Council for Children and Behavioral Disorder, International Association for Exceptional Children. She was a Board Member and National Delegate for the International Association of L.D. Children, American Vocational Education. She was a member of the Elk City Classroom Teachers Association. Legislative Action Representaative, OEA Building Representative, Political Action Committee and various other Professional organizations. She was ver active in the Democratic Party serving numerous years as a Delegate to the State Convention and recently served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Beckham County Democratic Party. She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law Richard L. Dugger. She is survived by her husband Richard L. Dugger of the home, two sons and daughtgers in law, Richard and Rhonda Dugger of Oklahoma City and Dennis and Becky Dugger of Elk City, OK; one grandson Dillon Dennis Dugger of Elk City, OK; one sister and brother in law Betty and Pruitt Lewis of Blanchard, OK; one brother and sister in law, Eddie and Abby Binyon of chickasha; mother in law Irene Dugger, of Elk City, OK; a niece Lizabeth Armstrong and her husband Maurice Armstrong of Blanchard, OK; and Eva Binyon of Chickasha, OK; one nephew Bryce Binyon of Chickasha, OK; one great nephew Alden Armstrong of Blanchard, OK; and numberous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m. February 16, 1994 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Denny officiating, assisted by Rev. John B. Shelton, Rev. Keith Russell, interment will follow at Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk City Educational Foundation in her memory. She will be missed greatly by all of those who knew and loved her.
