He camer to Oklahoma in boyhood at the opening of the Cherokee Strip, and grew to young manhood on his father's farm, north of Alva. Feburary 20, 1898 he was united in marriage to Lillian May Snyder of Alva, Oklahoma. He came to Roger Mills County, Oklahoma in 1923 and with the exception of a few years spent in Norman, Tonkawa, and Alva, he has spent most of the past 23 years on his farm near Strong City, Oklahoma. The greater part of his life he was a member of the Episcopal Church, but united with the Methodist Church of Alva in 1941. His wife having preceded him in death 18 months ago he leaves to mourn his passing, one son, Everett DeGeer, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Everett DeGeer, two granddaughters, Barbara Fay and Lettie May DeGeer and one grandson, James Ray DeGeer, all of Strong City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Muriel Hill of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mrs. Mable Wells olf Crosswick, New Jersy; threed brothers, Ernest DeGeer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Edgar DeGeer of Pueblo, Colorado, Frank DeGeer of Lake City, Kansas, attended the funeral services. H's cheerful personality, his very courteous and friendly manner, and his thoughtfulness for others, has won for him a large number of friends who share the loss of his passing with his relatives and loved ones.
