Snyder, was born November __, 1881 at Leon, Kansas and departed this life September 15, 1944 at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 25 days. With her parents, she moved from Leon to Coldwater, Kansas at an early age. Then at the time of the opening of the Cherokee Strip, she and her parents moved to Alva. She united with the Methodist Church at Alva at the age of 12. She acted as organist for the First Methodist Sunday school that was organized in Alva and that met in the old Bickel building on the east saide of the square. Later she acted as pianist in the Firsr Methodist church of Alva that was located where the Civic Center now stands. She was united in marriage to Dahl DeGeer February 20, 1896, in the home of her parents, with Reverend Oyer, then pastor of the Methodist church, performing the ceremony. With her husband she lived at Kansas City, Missouri, for nine years, then just five miles southwest of Alva for five years. Later she and her husband moved to Strong City, Oklahoma, where she lived for 20 years. At Strong City she acted as president of the Union Aid society for six years. Also, shed was a charter member and acted as presiddent of the Strong City Home Demostration club for a number of years. For the past four and one-half years, she and her husband have lived in Alva. She has been a member of Women's Society of Christian Service during all that time. This year she has been in the Esther Guild. Also sher has been a member of the Union Center Club here at Alva. She has been ill since the first of May and critically so for the past two and one-half months. She has been a sweet and a very patient sufferer through this long illness. Mrs. John C. Gage of Carlsbad, New Mexico has been her faithful nurse. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Dahl G. DeGeer, her son, George Everett DeGeer, two granddaughters, a grandson, and many other relatives and friends.
