He passed away July 7, 2003 in the Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 6 days. Jim attended school at Carter and Poarch. Jim enlised in the United States Army and served his country during the korean Conflict where he was stationed in Korea for two yars. After his discharge he lived in Ady, Texas and was married to Mary Pulliam at Amarillo, Texas on September 19, 1958. They continued to live in Ady where he began to weld. In 12970 they moved to Sayre where Jim began Jim['s Welding Service. Jim and his son, Johnny have built metal buildings across western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. Jim and Mary owned and operated Carter Grocery Store from 1984 until 1986. Jim loved to read Louis L'Amour books and play his guitar. He was a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 half bother Ellis "Bunny" Blackshear. Services were held Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Sayre First Baptist Church, officiatefd by Ray Smart. Burial was held a the Sayre- Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre. Survivors include: wife, Mary of the home; 2 daughers, Karen and Terry Sanders of Sayre, Oklahoma, Eva and Ray Cromet of Edmond, Oklahoma; 1 son Johnny Dickerdson of Sayre, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Chrisinda Fairless, April Sanders, Colter Sanders, James Cromer, Rachel Cromer; 1 great granddaughter, Tapanga Fairless; host of other relatives and friends.
