The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Richard Jefferson Daugherty was born February 15, 1912 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Ada Daugherty. He passed away February 16, 1984 in Grass Valley, California, after a long illness. Memorial services were conducted in Dinuba, California with Mr. Joe Tomlinson, Church of Christ Minister officiating. Richard, known by his friends as (Dick), was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Johnny Daugherty. He is survived by his wife of Rough and Ready, California; one daughter, Donna Terry of Visalia, California, one brother, Robert E. Daugherty of Stillwater, Oklahoma; three sisters: Lillian Combs of Grass Valley, California, Helen Ward of Wichita, Kansas, and Ermin Napier of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren: Sandra Bassett of El Cajon, California, Kim and Bill Terry of Visalia, California; two great grandchildren, Laime and Drew Bassett of El Cajon, California. Richard moved to Clinton, Oklahoma with his parents when he was quite young. The family later moved to Strong City, Oklahoma; from there they moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma, where they lived a number of years. In 1938, Richard married Grace Burns Smith at Arnett, Oklahoma. They lived in Reydon, Oklahoma a short while before moving to Dinuba, California in 1940. Richard worked as a mechanic a number of years for Ratziaff Ford in Reedley, California. He retired in 1974 and moved to Rough and Ready, California in 1979. Richard was a kind person, who enjoyed being helpful to his fellow man; he rendered many good services in the behalf. Interment was in the Smith Mountain Cemetery, Dinuba, California with Hopkins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, ok 8-Mar-1984
