Daugherty passed away March 3, 1982 at Chico Hospital in California at age 63. Johnny was the son of John L. and Ada Daugherty. He was born May 28, 1918, in Bessie, Oklahoma. Since 1946 he had lived in Hamilton City, California, where he served as Postmaster for 25 years. He was also a charter member of the Evangelical Free Church in Hamilton City. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Hamilton City; two sons, David of Orlando, California and John Jr. of Livermore, California; three sisters: Lillian Combs of Grass Valley, California, Helen Ward of Wichita, Kansas, and Ermin Napler of Austin, Texas; two brothers Richard of Grass Valley, California and Robert of Stillwater, Oklahoma and three grandchildren. Johnny's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Daugherty preceded him in death. The Rev. William Morris of Evangelical Free Church officiated at the service. Burial was in the Orland IOOF Cemetery. Johnny lived in Cheyenne, Oklahoma with his parents, brothers and sisters for several years where he attended Cheyenne Schools and graduated in 1936. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
