She passed away February 7, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years 9 months and 4 days. After graduating from Sweetwater High School. Gladys atteded business school at Wichita Falls, Texas. She was married to Dewey Daugherty at Mayfiled, Oklahoma on January 21, 1946 and they lived in the Grimes Community where they farmed for 15 years. The moved to Cheyenne in 1957 where they owned and operated a grocery store until 1977. She later worked for Cheyenne Abstract, the Cheyenne Star, and Dr. Buster before her retirement in 1987. Gladys enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Vynna Venice Daugherty and one son, Steven Wayne Daugherty. Services were held Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Fred King. Burial was hel at the Dempsey Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeraal Services of Cheyenne. Survivors include: one son, Stan Daugherty and wife, Jency of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Gayle Damron of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Vicky Miller and husband, Troy of Strong City, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Becky Daugherty Merryfield of Yukon, Oklahoma; two broters, Glen Henson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Dale Henson of Hereford, Texas; two sisters, Bessie Daugherty of Elk City, Oklahoma, Bobbie Woosley of Sayre, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; host of relatives and friends.
