All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Daugherty, Henson Dewey Avis Daugherty was born March 2, 1922 near Sweetwater and died Wednesday at his home in Cheyenne at the age of 67. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the cheyenne First Baptist Church with Ray Smart and A.L. Martin officiating. Interment will be in Dempsey cemetery, Roger Mills County, OK under direction of Rose chapel Funeral Service. Mr. Daugherty, son of C.M. and Josie Daughterty, grew up in Sweetwater where he attended school. He graduated from Amarillo barber school in 1941 and worked at that trade until he was inducted in the Army in Oct. 1942. He served his country during World War II in the South Pacific for 3 1/2 years. On Jan 21, 1946, he married Glayds Henson in Mayfield and they lived in Grimes where they farmed for 15 years. They moved to Cheyenne in 1957 where they owned and operated a grocery store until 1977 when Dewey began to work for the county until his retirement in 1986. He was preceded in death by one daugher, Vynna. Survivors are: His wife, Gladys; two daughters, Gail Damron, Oklahoma City; Vicky Miller, Strong City; two sons, Stan, Houston, Texas; and Steve of Yukon; his parents, C.M. and Josie Daugherty of Sayre; two sisters, Lela Cooprider, Cheyenne; and Geneva Fuchs, Sayre; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
