The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== John William Dunn, 80 of Woodward, Oklahoma died on February 15, 2000 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 14, 1919 to John William Wallace Dunn and Daisy Camp Dunn. John graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1941 with a degree in Agronomy. Following college, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the 42nd Bomb Group, 69th Bomber Squadron of the 13th Air Force. He completed 73 combat missions as a B-25 pilot in the Pacific Theater during WWII. In the process, he established many friendships that lasted his lifetime. John had a successful career as a cattle rancher during which he owned or operated ranches in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. He was President of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and a Director of the National Cattlemen's's Association. He leaves behind numerous and dear friends in the cattle business throughout the high plains region. In addition to his ranching ententerprises, John served as a member of the Oklahoma State University Board of Regents, the Oklahoma State University Foundation, the Oklahoma Constitutional Revision Commission and the Oklahoma judicial Nominating Commission. He was a member of the Elks lodge, VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and First United Methodist Church. He participated in civic and charitable causes too numerous to list. His mother, Daisy Camp Dunn, his father, John William Wallace Dunn and his sister, Mary Katherine Avriett, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Woodruff Dunn, his daughter, Diane Elizabeth Bowes, son-in-law Peter Curtis Bowes and their children, Ashley Elizabeth Bowes and Peter Curtis Bowes II; his daughter Cynthia Dunn Risen, son-in-law, Thomas Coffey Riesen and their children, William Dunn Riesen and Matthew Albert Riesen; his son, John William Dunn, Jr., daughter-in-law, Donya Hicks Dunn, and their children, Annie Frances Dunn, John William Dunn, III and Ellie Catherine Dunn and thousands of friends throughout the world who were touched by his wonderful eighty years on earth. Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Woodward, Oklahoma, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Oklahoma State University Foundation.
