In 1918 her parents John William and LuDella Turner moved from there to the Nine Mile Community in Roger Mills County. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Only one sister, Edith Blaylock of Sharon OK survives. Margaret married Melvin Dean. They graduated from Hammon High School together in 1937 and were married in 1938. They made their home on a farm in the Union Center Community. To this union were born three children: two daughters, Jo Marily Dean Anderson, Oklahoma City, Norma Carlen Dean Woolley, Leedey, and a son, Rickey Melvin Dean, of Yukon. After Melvin;s death in 1961 Margaret took her four year old son Rick, whom she loved and adored, and moved to Stillwater where she attended college for two years. But during those two years she commuted on weekends to the farm that she continued to mange. She later moved to Elk City, attended Real Estate School and beacme a realtor and worked for the Cooper West Agency in Elk City until illness forced her to retire. Her church home was also in Elk City at the First Baptist Church. Before Margaret's long term illness developed she loved to travel. She had the opportunity to vist Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and the Holy Land and had traveled extensively throughout the United States. But her real thrill was the Hammon Alumni Banquet and she had not missed one for several years. This was important to her because of her great love of people and at this event she could visit with her many friends whom she cherished and enjoyed. She loved to cook and there was always room for one more around Margaret's dinner table. No one could bake a better apple pie than Margaret and many family members and friends enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Margare has 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. They are: Katherine Renee Anderson of Sacramento, California, Deborah Lee Anderson, Dallas, Texas, Kim Anderson of Santa Rosa, California, Shelly Dawn and Melocy D'More Woolley of Oklahoma City. Her great grandson, Cody James, age 3 months is the child of grandson Jim and his wife, Gena of Santa Rosa, CA -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
