The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Denson, 100 year old longtime newspaper editor, was held Wednesday November 30, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gage Church of Christ. Ray Don Jackson officiated. Interment was in the Gage Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck. Rachel Wisdom Kellebrew was born February 21, 1888 in St. Bethlehem, Tennessee. She attended the David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee and then answered an ad from a newspaper in Poteau, Oklahoma. She went to work for William Welling Denson whom she married in 1911. They resided in Hugo, Antlers, Longsdale, Taloga and Leedey before purchasing the Gage Record in 1935 and making their home in Gage. She was active in the newspaper business for 68 years and had received her 50 year pin from the Oklahoma Press Association. She was a member of the Gage Church of Christ, the Gage Research Club and the Oklahoma Press Association. Mrs. Denson died November 27, 1988 in the Shattuck Convalescent Center. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1938, her son, Billy in 1974, 7 brothers and a sister. She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Busby of Gage; a brother, Thomas Killebrew of Tipton, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Denson were owners and publishers of the Leedey Times during the 1920's and early 1930's. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
