He moved with his parents to Oklahoma City in 1899 and then west of Grimes, Oklahoma in 1900 where he was reared and schooled at the Sunny Point school. There he met and married Miss Verna M. Rupp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Rupp of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, February 29, 1920. Born to this union were six children, 4 girls and 2 boys. He leaves to mourn his absence his wife Verna M. Drake and five children: Alice May, 13; Katie Lee, 11; Charles Edwards, 10; Leona Fay, 7; and Leroy 11 months; Carrie Louise died in 1928 at the age of 1 month. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar E. Drake of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; three brothers and two sisters who are: Oran E. Drake and family of Stratton, Colorado; Paul Drake and family of Reydon, Oklahoma; Edna Young and husband of Oklahoma City; Alma E____and husband of Washington, D.F.; and Harvey F. Drake of Cheyenne. Besides these he leaves a host of other relatives and friends. He was converted and joined the Methodist church of Grimes, Oklahoma June 12, 1920. He was a very devoted husband and father and was loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly by family and friends. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist church of Cheyenne in the presence of a great crowd of relatives and friends, after which he was laid to rest in the Berlin cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
