Rev. Mark Harrison will officiate. Mary Alice Atchley Durham, Oklahoma- native and long-time East Bakersfield resident, passed away December 2, 2005, in the quiet and peace of her home. One of twelve children of the late Charlie Alexander and Lillie Rebecca Bryen Atchley, she is survived by her only sister, Lillie Belle Cain Hines and her youngest brother, Billie Ray Atchley, both of Bakersfield. With her passing, she joins her husband, John Edward (Eddie) Durham, who preceded her in death on December 9, 1996, after sixty years of marriage. Four surviving children, Mary Ramona Holmes and husband Jessie, Belinda Jean Henry and husband George, all of Bakersfield, Stanley Edward Durham and wife, Carolyn of Bloomfield, Missouri, Janine Lawana Hunter and her life-partner, Michael Horine, of Murfreesboro, TN, mourn the passing of their mother. Mrs. Durham had eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who love her, miss her, and mourn with their parents. Mrs. Durham was a sales associate in numerous downtown department stores and a longtime employee of the Kern County Union High District before her retirement. Mrs. Durham attended Kern County Union High School and Bakersfield College. She expressed great pride in her children's educational accomplishments as each of them earned degrees from college. This, she considered her greatest achievement. Mrs. Durham will be missed by her friends and loved ones including her special friend, Grover Haring. The family would like to express appreciation for the special care given to their mother by the associates of Agape Home Health Care and Hoffman Hospice.
