He was born in Madison County, Illinois in 1883. He moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Davidson to Durham, Oklahoma 24 years ago. The Davidson family was one of the pioneer families of the county. Mr. and Mrs. Davidson are known and loved around Durham. Chess was one of the older boys and a great help to his parents in those early days when the county was enduring so many hardships. He is survived by seven brothers and one sister and his aged parents who mourn his loss but are comforted by his last testimony that Jesus was with him. Almost his last words were: "I am ready to go." He loved to talk about Jesus and His love, and could hear the angels singing wheree the Heavenly waters flow. He always loved the song, "The Eastern Gate," and sang at the last, I will meet you in the morning Just inside the Eastern Gate, Then be ready faithful pilgrim, Lest with you it be too late.
