Dean, Jr. were conducted Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the A.G. Creach Hammon High School Auditorium with Rev. Stan Norman and Rev. Dolan Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Star Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Carl A. Dean, Jr., 77 passed away on Friday, October 27, 2006, at his home near Hammon, after a difficult struggle with cancer. Junior was born May 3, 1929, to Carl Dean, Sr., and Ada Hart Dean. He graduated from Hammon High School in 1948 and was on the first boy's basketball team to represent Hammon at the state tournament. He was married to Monica Sue Trent on October 17, 1948. Junior and Sue had three children, Theresa, Mike, and Tonda. Junior was involved in the organization of the Red Star Water District and served on the board of directors from 1971 until his time of death. He was on the board of education of Hammon Public School from 1957-1970, serving as clerk from 1957 through 1967 and president 1969-1970. He served on the Clinton Production Credit Association board of directors from 1979 through 1985. He was also active in the Hammon Round-up Club, Roger Mills County Veterans Memorial Board and attended the Assembly of God and First Baptist Church of Hammon. Junior was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife Sue, two brothers-Melvin and Pete Dean and two sisters-Naomi Yoxsimer and Opal Walker. Survivors include his daughter Theresa Smith and husband Fred, of Oklahoma City, son Mike and wife, Kelly, of Woodward, daughter Tonda Duncan and husband Greg, Hugoton, Kansas, 11 grandchildren, Mike Smith, Jeff Walters, Jason Walters, Brad Dean, Brandon Barber, Rhea Ann Smith, Donde Duncan, Bryan Dean, Sarah, Katie, and Kimberly Baker, 10 great grandchildren, special friend Billie Moran of Vici, one brother Ted Dean and wife Orpha, of Hammon, one sister Arla Ash and husband, Chuck Ash, of Verousa, Missouri survive him.
