Miss Essie was the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.E.L. Douglas of this city. She lived here a good many years and a had host of friends. She graduated from the Southwestern Teacher's Collegee at Weatherford several years ago, and followed teaching as her chosen profession. During the time she was in school she was president of her class and at the same time she was also president of the B.Y.P.U. While in school she gained the reputation of having a splendid disposition, loved by all, an excellent student, and a zealous church worker. One characteristic that signalized her life was that of being especially kinde to old folks and children. Miss Essie taught five years in the rural schools of our county and later went to New Mexico and other western states and taught. Three years ago she taught the primary room of the Cheyenne school. Her former pupls who sat in a body at her funeral with floral offerings, attested her worth as a teacher. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Twitty who paid high tribute to the deceased, and offered consolation to the grieved ones in a sermon that was highly appropriate. The boyd was in charge of J.H. Tunnard, undertaker. The casket was banked with floral offerings of friends as a tribute to her memory and the service rendered. She was thirty four years of age and leaves to mourn her, her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.E.L. Douglas of Cheyenne, Mrs. F.G. Brann of Cheyenne, Mrs. Ethel Bergman of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Bertie Randolph of Magdalena, New Mexico, and one brother, Mr. Rector Douglas of Abilene, Texas.
