Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the Reydon Community Building with Dr. Alberta Helton and Vera Martinez officiating. Burial will be in the Carter Cemetery under the directiobn of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne. Pallbearers include his nephew, Zac Sandoval, and friends, Joe Whitson, Gale Parman, Charlie Whitson, Butch Chastain and Mike Owen. Honorary pallbearers include Clovis Haven, Gary Thompson, Mike Crum, Gale Hall and Joe Adkerson. Troy Lee Dyer was born May 4,1942, in Carter to W.L. and Zelma "Sister" Dyer. He grew up and attended school in Carter. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam, then returned to Carter, where he met and later married Shirley Griffin. Troy and Shirley lived in Carter, Sayre and a short time in Louisiana before returning to Western Oklahoma and eventually settling in Reydon. They owned and operated Dyer's Service Station in Reydon for several years. Troy was diagnosed with cancer in December 2009 and fought a valiant battle against the disease for almost two years. Troy enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing, watchin wrestling and spending time drinking coffee and watching Nascae with his best friend, Clovis Haven of Reydon. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tina Dyer, one sister, Marthea Mae, and two beothers, his twin, Roy, and William Dyer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shirley, of the home; one daughter, Sunny Marshall of Reydon; one son, Brandon Dyer of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Dayne and Ellie Marshall of Reydon; one sister, Charlene Dyer of Carter; four brothers, Willard Dyer and Jake T. Dyer, both of Carter, Charles Dyer and wife, Kay, of Carter; and Rosie Dyer and wife, Ann, of Ft. Cobb, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diann and James Porter of Reydon, Sonya and Michael Blagg of Sayre, Marvella Thomason of Sayre, and Roger Blackshear of Holdenville, Oklahoma; 23 niences and nephews, 31 great-nieces and great nephews; and several other family members and friends,. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the Reydon Community Building with Dr. Alberta Helton and Vera Martinez officiating. Burial followed in the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
