Evans, Drowned When He Stepped Into Deep Water. ON BEAVER DAM CREEK Accident Occured Near Farm Home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Andrews About 5:30 In Evening Lavon Evans the eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Evans who resides southeast of Cheyenne was drowned when he stepped into deep water while wading in Beaver Dam Creek Tuesday evening. The Evans child had gone to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Andrews to spend the night with the Andrews children. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews were away from home and the children, Lavon Evans, and the Anbdrews children, a boy and a girl aged 8 and 10 years, went to Beaver Dam Creek to wade when the Evans child stepped into deep water near where Beaver Dam empties into the Washita River. The Andrews girl ran a distance of about a quarter of a mile where her uncle, Murl Andrews was planting cotton and told him that the child was in the water. He rushed to the scene and it was several minutes before he found the body of the Evans child which was in water about neck-deep to the man. All attempts to produce artifical respiration were to no avail. The tradedy occured about 5:30 in the evening.
