The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Vela Mae Ezzell was born March 20, 1915 in Mercury, Texas and passed away August 8, 1991 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 19 days. Vela moved with her parents, S.G. and Eunice Ruth Weaver to Vaughn, New Mexico in 1917. They later moved to Hollis in 1924 and to Duke, Oklahoma in 1925 and then to Hammons, Oklahoma, where she married John Robert Ezzell on March 11, 1942 and they lived in Strong City, Oklahoma, before moving to Sayre in 1948 to make their home. She had been a member of the Sayre Church of Christ for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers, Darrell and Amert. She is survived by: 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Phil Leedy Of Kempner, Texas, Melba and Richard Highley of Batavia, Ohio; 2 sons, Robert and wife, Linda Ezzell of Sayre, Oklahoma, Roy Ezzell of Elk City, Oklahoma; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Alena and John R. Rose of Elk City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service was Saturday August 8, 1991 at the Sayre Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. with Randy Kee officiating. Interment was in the Delhi Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
