A.L. Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Bellview Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mr. Eakins was born on May 4, 1904 on the Nine Mile Creek to Jess and Annie Eakins and passed away on March 5, 1981 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 1 day. He attended school at Newsite and on March 23, 1922 he married Lonnie Creech in Durham. After their marriage they lived in Bellview before moving to Cheyenne in 1974 to make their home. He was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lonnie, of the home; 1 son, J.B. of Cheyenne; 1 aunt, Grace Gurbis of Texoma, Oklahoma; 1 nephew, Bob Barton of Crawford; 2 grandchildren, Gene of Kansas City, Kansas, and Bruce of Crawford; 4 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, and 1 sister. Serving as pallbearers were Bob Cannon, Johnny Grant, D.L. Chappell, Eddie Wilson, Virgil Payne and Rusty Ellis. Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Chalfant, Johnnie Keahey, Ralph Hanawalt, A.E. Lovett, Wayne Sadler, W.W. Shindell and Walter Merrick.
