Eakins was born October 20, 1922 in Bellview Community, OK to Lonnie and Bernard Lee Eakins and passed away June 21, 1994 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 1 day. J.B. attended Bellview Grade School and graudated from Durham High School in 1940. He attended Panhandle A & M College before he entered the United States Army where he served his country during World war II. He farmed and ranched in the Crawford Community and married Donna Jencks on August 26, 1966 in Clinton, Oklahoma and they made their home on the ranch before moving to Cheyenne in 1979 to make their home. J.B. and Donnie also had a home in Red River, New Mexico where they lived in the summer entertaining friends and family with fishing and while visiting in the winter months enjoyed skiing and snow mobiling. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking and grandchildren. J.B. was an avid supporter of all the local sprots teams and 4-H Clubs. He was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Donnie of the home, 2 sons and daughters-in- law, Gene and Jean Eakins, Kansas City, MO and Bruce and Linda Eakins of Cheyenne, OK; his mother, Lonnie Eakins, Cheyenne, OK; 1 step daughter, Susan and Garry Lowrance, Okalhoma City, OK; 1 step son, Charles Gilliland, Orlando, FL; 8 grandchildren, Amy and Ray Haven, Cheyenne, OK, Nikki Eakins, Kansas City, MO, Justin Eakins, Cheyenne, OK, Lindsay Eakins, Kansas City, MO, Angie Gilliland, Orlando, FL, Brandy Conley, Oklahoma City, OK, Ryan Lowrance, Oklahoma City, OK and Renae Lowrance, Edmond, OK; and a host of cousins, other relatives and freinds. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 1994 at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Paul Nachtigall, and assisted by Terrell Rombert. Interment will be in the Bellview Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
