Eddings was born January 26, 1930 in Canadian, Texas to Viola and Aaron Caswell Eddings and died Saturday in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 66. Leon grew up in Roger Mills County and graduated from Reydon High School in 1948. In 1949, he began his career in the U.S. Army and served his country during Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in December of 1971 after 20 years of service. Leon married May White on October 20, 1970 in Lawton and they remained their until moving to Amarillo, Texas. They later moved to western Oklahoma in 1973 and lived in Reydon before moving to Cheyenne to make their hom. He attended the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m., Monday in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma officiated by Terrell Romberg. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne. Survivors include: his wife, May of the home; three sisters, Lillie Mae Wolf of Del City, Lyia Putman of Oklahoma City, Sharon Whisenhunt of Kilgore, Texas; one brother, Overton "Badger" Eddings of Cheyenne; two stepdaughters, Lee Joy Hirsch of Lubbock, Texas, Leta Joy Braggs of Lawton; three step-sons, Roy Lee Pace of amarillo, Texas, Eugene Pace of Cheyenne, Leon Payne of Cheyenne; 10 nieces and nephews; and three step grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
