He was born October 7, 1883 in Wise County, Texas and was married to Ethel Rosson March 3, 1907 at Ural, south of Elk City. They lived in the Ural community until 1938 when they moved to Reydon where they have lived since. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Edwards of the home address; two daughters, Mrs. Lorena Grant of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Mrs. Beulah Parks of Perrin, Texas; one son, James Nathan Edwards of Borger, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Maxley of Enid, Oklahoma and Mrs. Hattie Cherry of Elk City; one brother W.B. Edwards of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law Mrs. Lola Stone Turner of Sayre. He was preceded in death by one daughter and one son. The Rev. Carl Simonton officiated. Burial was in the Thompson cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma. Casket bearers were Lee Felter, Walker Duke, Barvin Hickey, Alva Butler, Bufford Ingerson and John Spurlin.
