The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Sarah Elizabeth Cooper Elwood, 89, of Calhoun, Kentucky sister of Cheyenne resident Iva Minor died Sunday, April 11, 1999 at her daughter's home in Calhoun. Funeral services were Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at Muster Funeral Home, Calhoun Chapel, burial followed in the Calhoun Cemetery. She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma moving with her parents George and Lula Cooper to the Cooper ranch east of Strong City as a child. Later to the farm north of Cheyenne. She was a homemaker, a devout Christian attending the Calhoun Mission Church in Calhoun. She was married to Esca Elwood, living in Cheyenne until leaving in the 1930's. She and her husband had their own radio program from 1933 to 1937 on a radio station in Phoenix, Arizona later moving to Perris, California. Her hobbies included playing musical instruments, writing religious poetry and songs, quilting, knitting and genealogy. Survivors include one son Laverne of Independence, Missouri, four daughters, Betty Bradford of Vanon, TN, Evelyn Follett of Brooking, Oregon; Roberta Smith of North Hollywood, California and Velma Smith, Calhoun, Kentucy. Three sisters Iva Minor, now of Leedey, Ruth White of Perry and Dorothy Tucker, Kingfisher, Oklahoma, 11 grandchildren; great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years three daughters, two sons, Armetta, Clara June, Dorothy Lou, Wendell and George.
