Emerson passed away in Cheyenne Wednesday, November 20, 1929 after having been in ill health for some time. He was born February 6, 1848 in Delaware. He served in the civil war as a corporal of the 9th regiment. He married in 1869 and his wife died in 1911. The only son of this union passed away in 1910. He is survived by two grandchildren Earl Emerson of Cheyenne and Mrs. Bertie Dixon. He had been a member of the Methodist church for a number of years. Mr. Emerson came with his family to this country in 1901 and homesteaded southwest of Cheyenne. He was well acquainted and was recognized as a man of whom no ill could be spoken. Funeral services were preached at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon by C.E. Rhoads, local pastor, after which the remains were laid to rest in the family plot of the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. J.H. Tunnard undertaker in charge of funeral.
