He passed away early Monday morning in the mission Hill Hospital in Shawnee at the age of 97 years. The son of the late Albert B. Fuchs and Elizabeth Hungate Fuchs. Gilbert was born February 13, 1901 in Kiowa (Indian Territory) Oklahom and was reared and educated in the Buffalo community in Beckham County. He was united in marriage to Opal Lura Bain on June 12, 1929 in Grimes, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death in 1992, after 62 years of marriage. Survivors include nine sons, Delbert Fuchs and his wife, Jody of Maud, Oklahoma, Aquilla Fuchs and his wife, Betty of Redwood City, Califfornia, Albert Fuchs and his wife Evelyn of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Raymond Fuchs of Norman, Oklahoma, LaDon Fuchs and his wife Teri of Yale, Oklahoma, Jesse Fuchs of Noble, Oklahoma, Ocie Fuchs and his wife Cathy of Macomb, Oklahoma, Eldred Fuchs of Yukon, Oklahoma and Mark Fuchs and his wife Denise of Norman, Oklahoma; eight daughters Yvetta Fuchs, Olivia Lemmons and her husband Audron of Paragold, Arkansas, Isa Smith and her husband Bill of Macomb, Oklahoma, Rocilla Dilger of Lakewood, Colorado, Mary Dowell and her husband Kenneth of McLoud, Oklahoma, Eunice Cook and her husband Davis of Fayetteville, Georgia, Martha Kereanan and her husband Mike of Macomb, Oklahoma and Lola Richard and her husband Jerry of Wanette, Oklahoma; one sister Ora Ryan of Norman, Oklahoma; 36 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Yolanda, Evan and Fravil Fuchs, and two sisters Ima Clevenger and Mable Colby. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 2, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the Highland church of Christ in Tecumseh with Brothers Bob Anderson and Eddie Stotz, officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Veiw Cemetery at Macomb.
