The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Lewis Beecher Focht Lewis Beecher Focht, son of William and Mary Elizabeth Focht was born January 10, 1880 in Odell, Nebraska and died December 31, 1959 in Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was one of the early pioneers of the west, settling in Oklahoma near Old Grand and later moving to Reydon where he continued to live until his death after a series of illnesses. His devotion to the profession of well-digging earned him many well-deserved friends from the early pioneer days until recently when he was forced by age and illness to discontinue his love of digging new wells and mending old ones in spite of weather conditions. He was a member of the Reydon Methodist church where his funeral was held Saturday, January 2, 1960 with the Rev. Carl Shelton officiating, and were his friends overflowed the church to pay their last respects. He is survivey by one brother Lee Focht of Bayard, Nebraska, one sister, Mrs. Amanda Arehart of Waukegan, Illinois, and one niece, Mrs. Oleata Focht Appell of Shattuck, other distant relatives and many friends.
