Foster and passed away July 29, 1993 in his residence at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 3 days. Leonard grew up in the Durham area and attended shcool at Crawford. In 1940 he joined the U.S. Navy and later married Frances Cobb on January 17, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Leonard served his country during World War II where he was assigned to the U.S.S. Lexington and was a survivor of the Coral Sea Battle. He retired in September of 1959 after 20 years of service and remained in San Diego, CA before moving to Davenport, OK to make their home. He was a member of the Shawnee, VFW and the Fleet Reserve. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters. Survivors include his wife Frances, of the home; 2 daughters, Mary Nealey, San Angelo, TX; Crystal Foster, Ukiah, CA; 2 sons, Murry Foster, Davenport, OK; Matthew Foster, Houston, TX; 1 brother, George Foster, Jr., Ft. Smith, AR; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 1993 at the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma officiated by Kenneth Gamble.
