All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Fitzgerald, Burgess James William Fitzgerald, of Canadian, Texas, was born December 10, 1930 at Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away from a heart attack, enroute home with his family from a vacation with his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Burgess, of near Kansas City, Kansas. When he became ill Saturday, July 17, 1971 and died in a doctor's office in Medford, Oklahoma. His mother preceded him in death, August, 1958. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Canadian. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday 2:30 p.m. July 20, 1971 at the Community Buildin in Reydon, Oklahoma, where he grew up. Rev. W.F. Turnage pastor of the First Christian Church of Canadian was in charge of the rites. Burial was in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Stickley Funeral Home, Canadian, Texas. Surviving are his wife, Pat; two sons, Gary and Mark Fitzgerald, all of Canadian; and his father William F. Fitzgerald of Kingston, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives. Jim was a long-time employee of the Santa Fe Railroad Company and has been station agent in Canadian for several years. He was the owner of the City Drug Store in Canadian, a veteran of the United States Army service, in the Korean War; was elected last month to be the Post Commander of the Zybach-Owens Post of the American Legion in Canadian; was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, and a member of teh Eastern Star. He was a former member of the Canadian City Commission.
