All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Fields, Cooksey, Beaty, Quinn, Standifer Originally posted at: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/2582 Mrs. Isabella Fields, a pioneer of this community, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Quinn at Pearson, Oklahoma last Sunday morning April 5, 1931. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in this city Monday by Rev. Carl Covey, pastor of the First Christian church of Elk City, assisted by Rev. G.A. Watson of Durham, Rev. H.H. Cady of this city and Rev. Hesnon, pastor of the Broadway Methodist church of Elk City. The remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma by the side of her husband. Mrs. Fields came to Cheyenne with her husband and children and settled on a claim north of this city. Her husband preceeded her in death shortly after they came to this community. Mrs. Fields reared her children on the old homestead. Later she moved to this city where she made her home up until a few years ago when she went to make her home with her children. Mrs. Fields had been in poor health most of the winter and her condition became serious about a week before she passed from life. Mrs. Fields was a member of the Christian Church and a life member of the Platonic club of this city. She figured materially in the religious and social life of Cheyenne as long as she resided here. Her friends are a legion: It is said of Mrs. Fields that she away scattered sunshine and love wherever she went and that no one ever heard her speak evil of any one. She leaves to mourn her demise four children, Mrs. B.D. Cooksey of Seagraves, Texas, Mrs. L.D. Beaty of Cheyenne, Boney Fields of Portales, N.M. and Mrs. Clyde Quinn of Pearson, Oklahoma. She also leaves two brothers, Dr. T.E. Standifer of Turkey, Texas and Dr. J.E. Standifer of elk City; nine grandchildren and three great grand children. Among those from a distance attending her funeral were Mrs. Cooksey and daughter Donalita, Boney Fields, Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, W.T. Bonner, Ray Hodges Bohnner, Billie Bonner, Dr. J.E. Standifer and wife Dr. Orrin Standifer and Mrs. Virgil Hill, all of Elk City; Mrs. Florence Gannaway and Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Winford of Clinton, Mrs. Irma Combs of Amarillo, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. George Cafky of Beaver City and a large number of others from Elk City and Sayre.
