Mr. Flynt died on the 23 day of August 1984 in the Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 81. He was born on September 12, 1902 in Byers. He moved to Roger Mills County, near Hammon, in 1906. He married Althea Dugger on August 29, 1923. He worked with his father-in-law in the grocery business and in 1932 he and his brother-in- law purchased a grocery store which he operated until 1969. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as deacon after he was ordained on August 27, 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Althea of the home; one son, Joseph A., of Norman; two sisters, Mrs. Eda Ackley and Mrs. Callie Sketchely, both of Clinton; one granddaughter, Diana Edwards, Oklahoma City, two grandsons, Joseph A. Flynt II, of Moore and Paul Richard Flynt of Norman and two great grandsons. Burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
