All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: Fowler, Hart, Lusby, Daugherty, Passmore, Thompson Clarence Ray Fowler was born at home on September 10, 1913, to Coral 'Carl" Rue and Hettie Caroline Hart Fowler. Clarence, age 83, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 1997, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Hydro, Oklahoma. Clarence's parents were born in Texas in the early 1880's. They moved with their respctive families from Texas to the Sandstone community, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. They married and homesteaded the Sandstone home place in 1904. Carl and Hettie had three children, who were all redheads: Ruby Helen Fowler Thompson and twin boys, Clarence Ray and Roy James Flower. He attended Sandstone School and graduated from Herring High School in 1933. While attending high school, Clarence and Roy drove the school buses; they also had to clean and repair the buses. Being identical twins, they delighted in switching classes when they decame bored with a class. It was told that they did that on a few dates as well. Clarence Ray Fowler and Mary Irene Daugherty, of the Merritt Community, elped and were married at the home of Reverend Garlin Wilson. Her parents were Robert 'Lee" and Euna Edna Lusby Daugherty, who resided in the Merritt Community. They had one child: Faye Fowler Passmore, born October 28, 1940 at the Music Hospital in Elk City, Oklahoma. As a note of interest, Roy married Mary's sister, Ada. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his twin brother. He is survived by his wife Mary, one daughter, Faye Passmore of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren. Clarence, his father and his brother served at various different times on the Sandstone School Boaard form 191`7 to 1946. For several years he was forman of the Thurmond Ranch. He was a self taught wterinarian, carpenter, gardeneer and inventor. Many of his beautiful wooden cabinets are in Elk City homes today. Being an avid fisherman he took many fishing trips in the United States, Canada and Alaska. He was always the happiest in the county on horseback or fishing in one of the lakes. He was baptized by Reverend Isaac Snow and became a member of the Erick Assembly of God Church for several years, and then later he became a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Elk City. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his twin brother. He is survived by his wife, Mary, one daughter, Faye Passmore of Plano, Texas, and a host of other relarives and fiends. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Firday, March 14, 1997, in the Whinery- Savage Chapel with Pastor Isaac Snow, officiating, and Rev. T.D. Gifford, assisting. Intement was in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Serice of Elk City.
