Kincaid Farris, daughter of Alexander and Mary Walton Kincaid, was born in Fisher County, Texas on January 18, 1893. She passed from this life Sunday, December 13, 1987 in Elk City Hospital, Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years. Ida moved with her parents, her brother and her several sisters to Dewey County, Oklahoma in her early life. On January 25, 1917, Ida A. Kincaid and Medlin H. Fariss were united in marriage at Taloga, Oklahoma. They established their home in the Trail community and two sons, M.H., Jr. and Allen T. were born to them here on the farm near Trail. This remained their home until 1948. At this time they left their farm home and moved to Elk City where Mr. Fariss became involved in the Real Estate Business. Mr. Fariss was an active realtor for many years. In 1983, Mrs. Fariss returned to Leedey where she spent her remaining years. During her years of residencey of Elk City, Mrs. Fariss was active in Auxiliary work in the Elk City Community Hoapital. She was a kind loving person and this made of her a favored person among the Auxiliary workers. Mrs. Fariss enjoyed quilting and crocheting, completing many pieces of needle-work which are treasured articles of her family and friends. She also enjoyed her flower and yard work and loved having her friends near to enjoy her hospitality. Ida Fariss made her commitment of Faith in Christ in her early childhood and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She participated in the work of the church and Sunday School, a dedicated person whose influence for the better things of life will long be remembered by the many who knew her. She was also active in the Senior Citizen Center and enjoyed her association with these friends. Mrs. Fariss was a long standing member of "The Order of the Eastern Star" and was the recepitent of the cherished "Fifty Year Membership Pin." She was a loving wife, mtoher and grandmother and a kind compassionate friend and neighbor. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, one borhter, Andrew Kincaid, and four sisters, Drucilla Holcomb, Lizzie Williams, Bertie Williams, and Alva Driskill. She is survived by two sons, M.H. Fariss, Jr. of Leedey, and Allen T. Fariss of Overland Park, Kansas, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other loved ones and many friends. Funeral services for Ida A. Fariss were held Tuesday, December 15, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Leedey, Oklahoma with Denis Dicker officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home. Casketbearers were: Laudren Fariss, Ted Fariss, Sherman Lauder, Ryan Lauder, Ira Fariss, and Louis Fairss.
