She was married to William H. Merritt in Mississippi in 1876. To this union was born three children, two of whom preceded her in death. The one surviving her is J.H. Merritt of Crawford, Oklahoma. Her husband died in 1882. She was baptized into the Church of Christ at an early age. She was married to Adam H. Farmer in Jackson County, Arkansas in 1885. One child was born to them. O.H. Farmer of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was influential in leading her husband to Christ. He was baptized in 1893 and lived a devoted life until his death in 1930. They moved to Oklahoma in 1900 and filed in this county and have made their home here ever since. Besides raising her own family she took a nephew, A.B. Herring Jr., at the age of two years, and raised him to manhood. She has endured many hardships and could tell some interesting stories of pioneer days. She remained quite healthy up until three weeks ago. ____________(not legible) sons, J.H. Merritt and family of Crawford and O.H. Farmer of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her brother, A.B. Herring of Clinton; her nephew A.B. Herring, Jr. and family of Clinton. She also leaves five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was laid to rest in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, with Rev. Curtis Camp, of Elk City, officiating under the direction of Tunnard's Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
