Funeral services were held Tuesday, april 9, 1996 at Martin Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City under the direction of Martin Funeral Home. Mrs. Farrar, daughter of Luther Allen and Ola Hazeltine Harris DeGarmo, was born on March 4, 1911, in Love County, near Henryetta, Oklahoma. She attended school and Reagen and, as a young girl, moved to Reydon with her family. In her early teens, she moved to Cheyenne with her family. She married William Raymond Farrar on December 30, 1931, in Elk City. They established their home on a farm near Cheyenne and, five years later, moved to the Carpenter community. In 1946, they moved to the Highway community, where they lived and farmed until 1985, when Mr. Farrar entered a nursing home in Sayre. Mrs. Farrar moved to Sayre to be near her husband, where she had lived since, and entered the nursing home on April 19, 1995. Mr. Farrar preceded her in death on December 22, 1990. Mrs. Farrar enjoyed quilting. She was baptized at the age of 13, and has been a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and four broothers, infant Brady, Melvin, Alonzo and Henry, who died in World War II. She is survived by her children, Roy Farrar of Elk City, Orval Farrar of Prescott, Arkansas, Delbert Farrar of Amarillo, Texas and Juanita Patten of Sayre; her sister, Mrs Otis (Marie) Loyd of Elk City; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
