Louis was born to parents Ira Milton and Fincel Virginia Fariss, March 17, 1958, in Elk City, Oklahoma. Attending all 12 years of school at Leedey, he was active in FFA, at both local and state levels. At Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Louis majored in Animal Science. He excelled in extracurricular actives. Oklahoma FFA Northwest District Vice President, Oklahoma Junior Angus Association President, Block and Bridle Club President, and Outstanding Block and Bridle Senior. Louis remained a life long proponent of his passions for leadership development and public speaking. While a student at OSU, Louis married Cynthia Diane Anderson (May 12, 1979). Louis was blessed with two daughters, Lexy Le and Lin De. The Fariss eventually made their home on a farm north-east of Leedey. Lexy and Lin followed in their father's academic footsteps, and were his life's pride and joy. In addition to farming, Louis worked with Exxon from 1981-1996, holding various positions in Oklahoma and in offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Louis took a position with (Embridge) Mid-Coast in 1998. He was Manager of Compression Services for the Gathering and Processing Division at the time of his death. In addition to his professional life. Louis also served on the board of directors for Kiwash Electric co-operative, Inc. and the Oklahoma Weather Modification Advisory Board. Louis worshiped with the Church of Christ in Leedey through his entire life, putting Jesus on in baptism at the age of 16. Louis had an unyielding passion for Christ and the church, who he served in many areas, including: song leader, Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cynthia Faris, Leedey; daughter and son-in-law, Lexy and Zeke Proctor, D.V.M., Siloam Springs, AR; daughter, Lin Fariss, Leedey; parents, Ira and Fincel Fariss, Leedey; sister and brother-in-law, Dixie and Allen Arnold, Spring, TX, nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends. Louis' life was focused on devotion, to God, family, church and community. His strength of character is his legacy. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 16, 2009 in the Leedey High School Auditorium, Leedey, Oklahoma with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery.
