Ruth Marie Givens was born May 11, 1918 in Clay County, KS to Art and Mary Jane Robinson Smith and died May 1, 1999 at the age of 80. She attended school at Pleasant Valley, KS. She married in the 1930's and resided in Clay Center, KS with her three daughters for several years. In 1945 Ruth married Ralph Givens in Hutchinson, KS and later the family moved to AR. The family moved to the Hammon Community in 1950 and remained there until 1971 when Ruth moved to Elk City. She spent the remainder of her years caring for the elderly. She was prceded in death by her husband, Ralph Givens; her parents, two sisters, Edith Elsizer and Betty Downin; three brothers, Leo Smith; Paul Smith and Merle Smith; one great granddaughter. Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie Mooney and her husband Keith of Hammon, Virginia Gibson and her husband Joe of the Panhandle, TX, Shirly Walker and her husband Jack of Hammon and Betty Givens of Elk City; two sons, George Givens and his wife Peggy of McAlester, Richard Givens and his wife DaJuana of Elk City; one brother Jess Smith of Colby, KS; seventeen grandcildren; forty great grandchildren and numberous family and friends.
