The entire front of the church in which Mars Gowdy had taught her Sunday school class just the Sunday before, was a mass of flowers, tributes from friends, relatives and organizations. The funeral sermon was given by Rev. Paul Jones of Sentinel, former pastor of the church. He was assisted by Rev. Clayton Hughes, pastor. Committal was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under direction of Scroggins Funeral Home. Mrs. Gowdy was active in the Sunday School and the WWSCS of the Methodist church and in the Platonic club of this city. Mrs. Gowdy died suddenly Friday morning, September 30, 1960 at Cheyenne. Born September 13, 1910 in Foss, Oklahoma, she was maarried to John Gowdy in 1932 at Coud Chief, Oklahoma. They came to Cheyenne from Cqanute in 1956. Survivors are her husband, John, and one daughter, Ruth Ann, of the home, her mother, Mrs. Martha Hatchett, Sprinfield, Colorado, and brother, Genie Hatchett, Springfield, Colorado; three sisters, Jewel Albin, Merced, California, Jessie Murray, Foss, Oklahoma and Dewey Stewart, Wichita Falls, Texas.
