Officiating ministers were Lee Vaughn, Strong City, and Loyd Martin, Crawford. Committal was in the Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mr. Gates a rancher of near Strong City died from a heart attach about 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon January 18, 1970. Lee Gates was a member of the Board of Supervisors of Upper Washita Soil and Water Conservation District, president of the Roger Mills County Farm Bureau, and vice president of the Cheyenne Round-Up Club at the time of his death and was acttive in the promotion of all things for the advancement of Roger Mills County. Lee Gates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Gates, was born at Durham March 17, 1915. On February 11, 1933 he was married to Naomi Russell. To this union were born four daughters, Barbara Hay, Beverly O'Brien, Mary and Judy, all of Strong City. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Karl Gates, two brothers, Galen, Stanton, Texas and Don, Edmond, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ilene Sanve, Cheyenne and Doris Selby, Satanta, Kansas.
