He was united in marriage to Maxine Davis, June 29, 1947, at Kalamazoo, Michigan. He leaves to mourn his wife, Maxine of the home address Mountain View, California. His mother, Lillian Gates, Elk City, OK; two sisters, Ilene Sanve, Cheyenne, OK, Doris Selby, Satanta, KS; three brothers, Galen Stanton, Texas, twin brother, Don, Edmond, OK, Lee, Hammon, OK; 24 nieces and nephews and five great nephews; one aunt, Mrs. Bertha Bryson, Hydro, OK. His father and one brother preceded him in death. Dale and his twin brother, Don attended 12 years of school at Strong City, graduating in 1939. After graduation Dale enlisted in the coast guards serving six years for his country during World War II. He was a member of the Order of the Golden Dragon and at this time served on the U.S.S. Samuel Chase. He was awarded the following medals, good conduct, Asiatic Pacific Area, American Area, World Warr II Victory Ribbon and American Defence after returning from the war, Dale attended Western State College at Kalamazoo, Michigan, for one year. After this he and his wife returned to Oklahoma in 1948 to his farm north of Strong City and remained until 1957 when they moved to Michigan for four years where Dale worked for R.C.A. His job took him to California in 1960 where he was when he passed away. Electrican Forman for Pala Alto unified School District. He was a member of the Foothills Baptist Church, Los Altas, California. Dale was loved and respected by all who knew him. He lead a full and happy life. Funeral services were held for Dale William Gates, Friday March 3 in the Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Webb and Rev. Lee Vaughan officiating. Honorary Pall Bearers were Steele Kimzey, Ted Dean, Shorty Hubbard, Clyde Stamper, Roy Hay, Jack Rose, Harold Mooney, Ben Bottom, Jim Hendershot, Burwin Archer, Russell McClellan, Delmar Robinson, J.D. Pyeatt. Pall Bearers were Manuel Hensley, John Leach, Fra Young, Roy McClellan, Orval Cofer, Clifford Baggett.
