Interment will follow in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Angie Gleaves was born August 15, 1922 in Marriana, Arkansas to Nancy Ann Finley and Monroe Griffin Walker and died Tuesday, july 6, 1999 in Mercy Health Center of Oklahoma City at the age of 76. Angie came with her parents from Marriana by train to Elk City in 1930 where they lived before moving to the Grimes and Reydon communities. She started school at Rankin before attending school at Grimes and Emerson and later Cheyenne in 1938. Angie married Glen William Gleaves on October 16, 1940 south of Cheyenne. They lived in Texas and later Sunny Point before moving to the Geaves home place in Dempsey community. They lived in Reed before moving to Berlin. In 1986, they moved to Sayre to make their home. Angie went to work at Hodges Nursing Home in Elk City in 1970 and retired in 1988. After her retirement, Angie provided private nursing care to several residents in Sayre. Angie was a member of Elk City Bible Baptist Church and the Sayre AARP. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; an infant daughter, Ashley Renee Gleaves; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Baker Gleaves; one granddaughter, Virginia Fay Gleaves; one grandson, Junior Gleaves; five brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Brad Whinery of Elk City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Sharon Gleaves of Canyon, Texas, Wayne and Freda Gleaves of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Lee and Debbie Gleaves of Lawton; one sister, Bertha Simpson of McLean, Texas, nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; speical friends Luedeen Ellison and Dottie Criswell and a host of other relatives and friends.
