He passed away at the Sayre Hospital, Tuesday January 24, 1950 at the age of 74 years, ten months. He was married to Clara Mae Locko at Palo Pinto, November 6, 1897. She preceded him in death on February 24, 1932. They came to Woodward in 1901, later moving to the Old Hext Ranch, west of Sayre. Then they moved to Clovis, New Mexico. There he started his fvirs transfer business which was his chosen work. They later moved to Sayre where he operated the same type of business for many years. He was married to Mrs. Rebecca Dodson on May 31, 1934. Togethter they operated various grocery stores in Sayre, Dempsey, Strong City, Delhi and Mobeetie. They came to Reydon in 1940 where they have operated a store since that time. In all those places he made many friends. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since he was 16 years old always giving freely of his time and money to a good cause. He had been in bad health for the past wo years and knowing that his time was growing short, he had selected his minister, the text and the songs. He leaves to mourn his going, his wife and five children; Loudean Roles, Troutdale, Oregon; Dora Meaker, Panhandle, Texas; Madge Fitzsimmons, Roseburg, Oregon; J.T. Gilbert, Alhambra California; Mabelle Lethcoe, Panhandle, Texas. One daughter, Madge, was unable to attend. Three step children: Willa Carter, Reydon; Hubert Doson, Sayre; Jewel Peters, Crawford; Eleven grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Jones, Graford, Texas; and Mrs. Cinda Davis of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves serveral nieces and nephews.
