Gilbreath was born to Marcus L. and Leah Hurley Gilbreath at Holdenville, Oklahoma on March 15, 1908 and departed this life on April 8, 2005 in Brawley, California. Elmer attended school in Parks, Arkansas and Moorewood, Oklahoma. Elmer was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Cox on October 20, 1930 at the First Baptist Church of Strong City, Oklahoma. Reverend S.S. Elliott performed the ceremony. Two daughters were born to this union, Alice and Carolyn. Thre family moved to Arnett, Oklahoma on January 1, 1934. The couple lived in Brawley, California in the winter and returned home to Arnett during the warmer months. Elmer worked as a farmer and for many years ran the family dairy. Farming was Elmer's way of life. He also enjoyed visits with friends and neighbors. Elmer was baptized ar the Moorewood Baptist Church, south of Leedey, Oklahoma. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. He is survive by his loving wife Dorothy, of the home; his daughters, Alice Rand-Moiola of Palm Springs, Califcolrnia ands Carolyn Faye Machado and husand Doyle of Brawley, California; a granddaughter, Francine Rand-Manzano of Winchester, California; a grandson, Rick Rand and wife Terri Ann of Evergreen, Colorfado; great grandson, Ramon Manzano of South Lake Tahoe, California; a sister, Nigal Frick and husband Allen of Springfield, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Services were Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Arnett, Oklahoma with burial following at DeBolt Cemetery under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home of Arnett.
