TWO OTHERS BARELY EXCAPE Otis Glover Rescude by Troy Glover Party Searched Over An Hour For Floyd's Body. Last Sunday, June 17, 1923 Troy Glover and Otis Glover of near Durham, sons of Mrs. Gladys Glover, went fishing in the Canadian river when they decided to try swimming the river. Troy, the eldest of the boys was in the lead when he struck a whirlpool. He shouted to the other boys to go back, but too late, for no sooner had he uttered the warning than the youngest, Otis, exclaimed, "Troy, Floyd's gone." Troy then turnede and after some effort caught Floyd by the hair, rescuing him, and was about to swim ashore when the youngest boy became alarmed started sinking and caught Troy around the neck. He then released Floyd in order to save the younger brother and his own lifed. When he had put his younger brother ashore no trace of thea oter could be seen. Floyd ran to their house near the scene and told his mother. Help was summoned and a large crowd gathered at the river and diligent search was made for the boy which was located after about an hour and a half. The three boys with their widowed mother lived near the Canadian River near Durham. Floyd Glover, the second son of Mrs. Gladys Glover, came to his death by drowing, Sunday, June 17, 1923. He was born at the home of his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Noblitt, near Durham, in 1916 and was 17 years, 4 months and 20 days. of age at the time of his departure from life. Floyd was an exceptionally good boy and was lovedd by all who knew him. He obeyed the gospel about a year ago and performed so many Christian deeds and expressed many thoughts his friends and loved ones will never forget. Funeral services were hedld at the Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma at eleven o'clock June 18, 1923. The services were conducted by Bro. Guiy Gabbart assisted by Bro. Sadler of Cheyenne. Both made beautiful talks. A large crowd was present and the casket was laden with flowers bestowed upon it by loved ones. The entire community was grieved at the tragic ending to the young life. He leaves his mother and two brothers, a grandfather and grandmother and a number of uncles, aunts and cousins to mour his loss.
