Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Mr. Gillette was born on December 10, 1928 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to P.E. and Joella Gillette and died at the age of 54 in the Stillwater Medical Center on January 4, 1983. He was married to Joretta M. Summers on April 22, 1948 in Elk City, Oklahoma. He grew up in Cheyenne and was a graduate of Cheyenne High School. After their marriage the couple lived in Cheyenne until in 1962. He joined the Soil Conservation Service in 1950 and was an engineering technican at the time of his retirement from the USDA Soil Conservation Service. Joe was a member of the Sunnybrook Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his father, P.E.; a brother, Hollis Gillette; a sister, Mrs. Genevieve McDonald. Sruvivors include his wife, Joretta; his mother, Joella Gillette; 2 daughters, Kimberly Gillette of the home and Mrs. Gary A. (Sheryl) Sadler of Stillwater; 2 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Max E. Gillette of Unity, Maine and Jack L. Gillette of Wichita, Kansas.
